Who could have imagined that our daily routines would be all turned upside down; that we would be quarantined to our homes by some kind of virus that most of us have never heard of just a few months ago. And that our institutions in which we put our trust and faith into like governments, schools, churches, and businesses would be closed by this strange corona19 virus. Our world hasn’t seen anything like this since the flu pandemic of 1918.

The Easter flowers seem exceptionally colorful and beautiful this year. I started planting a few Easter flowers the first fall when we moved to Canandaigua twenty 20 years ago. Each year my wife and I decide where we could use a few more of these heralds of spring and then I mark off the spot so I won’t forget in the fall and place the order for some more bulbs. When fall does come around and it is time to plant the bulbs, I sometimes find myself grumbling because freezing temperatures have arrived and I don’t like to get my hands cold. The bulbs are soon forgotten about until spring comes and the ground warms just enough for them to start growing once again.

My part in this yearly process is really very small. Just dig a whole and plant the bulb before the ground freezes in the fall. The rest is all taken care of for me and when spring arrives the show begins.

And so it is more important to not worry too much about things that we cannot control. Rather, remember why we celebrate Easter and to make the best of our present circumstances. Our little church is going to celebrate Easter as it always has once the approval is given for public gatherings. So I say, Let the Easter Celebration Begin.
