Now’s the time in the Finger Lakes to do some Farm Market shopping. One of my favorite farm markets is Tomion’s Farm Market on route 14 near Penn Yan, NY. All of what they have for sale is either grown on one of their own farms or from a local farm orchard in the area. Outside the market you are greeted by all of the colorful pumpkins, gourds, cabbages, and many different kinds of squash. All of these types of vegetables keep well into the winter months as long as you don’t let them freeze.

Once inside the store, there are all kinds of kinds of vegetables (potatoes, freshly dug carrots, bags of onions, egg plants, some late tomatoes, etc.) on the right side of the entrance. The left side of the store entrance contains all kind of apples. And if you are too busy to bake your own pie, there is an assortment of freshly baked pies and cookies right in the store!

And while you are in the area of Penn Yan, NY, check out the bountiful fall harvest of grapes at Keuka Spring Vineyards just a few miles outside of Penn Yan on route 54. We especially enjoy this winery as they feature award winning wines, their sales folks are very friendly and knowledgeable, and the winery is located up a long winding road near the top of the hill. The view from their outside patio area and tasting room affords one a Creator’s view of Keuka Lake and the surrounding countryside.
