A sure sign of spring in our development is the roar of the track-hoe’s engine as it digs out the basement for a new home in the Deep Run Development. It was seventeen years ago on March 20th, 1999 that the Bero Construction Company began to dig into the ground for the foundation of our new home. Spring is different this year in that we have had almost no snow and very little freezing weather this winter. But March of 1999 brought over three feet of snow and Dave Bero had to use the front loader to push the snow aside so that he and his brothers could stake out the location of our new home.

Jeanette and I were still living in Binghamton and we missed out on the three feet of snow in March and also on the beginning of our new home. We had already approved the plans and trusted that John Bero and his brothers were capable of following the drawings. Our first visit was in April when the house was being framed. What an exciting time to watch all of your plans and dreams take shape. We traveled to Canandaigua that first time to pick out the color of the roof and the color of the siding. There would be many more trips from Binghamton to Canandaigua as we needed to pick out the color of the bricks, the type of flooring, etc. We would travel from Binghamton on Saturday to discuss the next step with John Bero., and then return to Binghamton late on Saturday evening.

We don’t know the new home owners on Crystal Ridge, but these pictures will attest to the wisdom of your decision to build in Deep Run. The view of Canandaigua Lake is magnificent and will provide you with an endless change in the color of the water in the Lake, an endless variety of beautiful summer sunsets, the joy of watching the migration of the ducks and geese, and the beauty of the changing seasons. We take our winter vacation in Florida for a couple of weeks, but then long to return to our home here in the Finger Lakes. For us, there is no other place.
