Mother Nature has done her work in March, April, and May to awaken the grasses, the flowers, and the trees all across the Finger Lakes Region of New York State. And then June comes along and its opening time for nature’s summer outdoor show! “June is Bustin” Out all Over” is a tune from Carousel, a musical by Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein and as we drove along routes 5&20 which touches the northern end of five of the largest Finger Lakes, I couldn’t help but be reminded of this tune.
The flowers which were started as seeds in green houses since February and carefully tended to are now set out in front of people’s homes and in carefully placed plots along the streets for all to see and enjoy.
The many wineries which surround the Finger Lakes are now sampling their best wines made from last year’s grapes and anxiously awaiting this year’s crop as the vines once again come alive with new growth and leaves.
Our beautiful Finger Lakes are once again open to the many boaters who enjoy the clear blue waters which were a result of last month’s rains on the surrounding hillsides. Ah spring, it’s a time of renewal and rebirth, and the promise of even warmer days ahead!
