A Castle Fit for a King!

As a birthday gift, Jeanette decided to take me to the Belhurst Castle over in Geneva, NY for lunch. We only recently began to visit this place since the new building was built at the edge of the bluffs, over looking Seneca Lake. It’s located just a mile or so south of routes 5 & 20 in Geneva on route 14.

On a cold cold Sunday afternoon, we like to go for a late lunch at the Stonecutters – an informal dining room and bar. The view of Seneca Lake from Stonecutters is magnificent and it’s a lovely place to just sit and look out the window and dream of warmer weather while being warmed by the huge fireplace and a glass of wine.

It’s a great place to celebrate a birthday, or an anniversary, or any other event which demands your special attention. The prices at Stonecutters are reasonable – in the $10 – $13 range, but it’s not your ordinary bar food. There’s a really good selection of lunch choices and the food is very tasty. And if you are into wines, they have a great selection of Finger Lakes Wines. I chose a glass of their Belhurst Castle award winning merlot wine and Jeanette selected a glass of white Zinfandel. Both were excellent.

If you are unsure of your wine tastes, there is a huge tasting room located just through the main entrance. The tasting room offers another magnificent view of Seneca Lake and it filled with all kinds of gifts and different wine selections from the Finger Lakes. During the winter months, the visitor traffic is slow, but that’s just my kind of place – a place where I can sit and dream about warmer weather. Thank you Jeanette!
