Celebrating Thanksgiving in the Finger Lakes

Preparations for Thanksgiving Day are well underway in the Finger Lakes. It’s my favorite holiday and time to be with family and friends. First of all, I’m thankful for my good health this year. I’ve wandered around in the Finger Lakes this year taking pictures of my favorite wineries, restaurants, waterways, and lake scenes that make-up Finger Lakes living. It’s like Jeanette says, “every time we go for a drive, it’s just like we are on vacation!”  I hope that you feel the same.

I’m thankful for my readers who take the time to read my blog as I wander around in the Finger Lakes. Some of you I personally know, but most of you I have never met. But I believe that we share a common bond with the natural beauty of the Finger Lakes region of New York State. There are far too many things written and said which detract from and diminish our daily living. It is my hope that I can continue to bring to you more pictures of the places and events in the Finger Lakes which encourage and inspire your thoughts, bring a smile to your face, or invoke a pleasant memory from years’ past.

Deer hunting season has just opened in the Finger Lakes and for some the results of the hunt will bring food to their table. But I know that there are many who do not have enough to eat or a good paying job so that they can earn a decent living. Perhaps you will share some of your good fortune with them as well as your neighbors this Thanksgiving.

Regardless of how you decorate or celebrate Thanksgiving, take time to give thanks to The One who has given us this beautiful place to live in that we call The Finger Lakes.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
