When guests come for a visit, one certainly doesn’t lack for things to do and see in the Finger Lakes! Our guests from Pennsylvania enjoyed a tour of several of the Finger Lakes wineries along Keuka Lake and Canandaigua Lake. Our first stop was at Keuka Springs Vineyards. I like their Merlot wine and if you can let it sit on your wine rack for a couple of years, it’s even better! The view of Keuka Lake from their tasting room is magnificent.
Our next stop was at Rooster Hills Vineyards. While our guests tasted the wines, I was outside taking a few pictures. I liked the smell of the miniature lilacs which were in full bloom and they made such a nice frame for a picture of Keuka Lake.
We traveled a bit further and stopped at McGregor Vineyard Winery which sits on top of a hill just where the two branches of Keuka Lake come together. It’s a rather long trip up the hill but the visit is certainly worth it. I think that they do the best presentation of wines that I have experienced. Our guests bought a bottle of their port wine.
Before going out to dinner on Saturday night, we stopped at Wilhelmus Estate Winery (click here) on Canandaigua Lake. They were very busy with guests sampling their wines including their newest one which is a blueberry wine. I can’t get out of there without buying a bottle of Chamborcin and it’s already been opened and used in my “Hearty Beef Vegetable Soup” which was featured last February at Wilhelmus’s winter event.
With over two hundred wineries in the Finger Lakes region, you will never run out of wineries to visit and new ones are being added each year!
