The little village of Hammondsport sits at the southern end of Keuka Lake, one of the five largest Finger Lakes. Keuka Lake is shaped like a ‘Y’ with the village of Hammondsport at the bottom of the ‘Y’. Keuka Lake is also one of the prettiest of the Finger Lakes and is sometimes known locally as the “crooked lake”. The southern half of the lake is surrounded by rapidly rising wooded hills which offer a spectacular view of the lake. In the fall of the year, the foliage is magnificent!
Jeanette and I decided to have lunch in Hammondsport. It’s still early but the tourists are already beginning to show up in the little village. We had our lunch at the Champagne BBQ, a newly opened restaurant just across from the gazebo in the village park. The restaurant features both lunch and dinner and is open Monday through Saturday from 11am until 9 pm.
I was really impressed with the décor inside the restaurant as I have never seen a bar shaped like a boat before and it was complete with a beautiful mahogany top – a really neat idea. The restaurant offers a selection of barbequed meat sandwiches and then you can add your own choice of barbeque sauces. Their house Champagne BBQ sauce really added a nice taste to my pulled pork sandwich. They also feature Finger Lakes wines which are from local wineries in the area to compliment your lunch or dinner.
The Champagne BBQ would be an ideal place to start a wine tour along Keuka Lake as there are some very nice wineries located just minutes away from Hammondsport. I know that we will be back!
TJ, Marian and I would like to THANK YOU again for your hospitatity and friendliness during our visits to your resturant this past weekend. The beer was great, the food was even better and you went out of your way to make us feel at home.
THANK YOU

Terry,
Thanks for the note but I am not the owner of the Champagne BBQ restaurant in Hammondsport, NY. We visited there last summer and I wrote a blog on the restaurant. I like the food and the bar which is made to look like a boat. It’s a fun place to visit for lunch. Interestingly enough, the words “champagne BBQ” drew a very high response from the readers of my blog Finger Lakes Living.
