Thanksgiving Preparations in the Finger Lakes

A Part of Susan's Thanksgiving Decorations

It’s time for us to start making preparations for our Thanksgiving travels to Venetia Pa. and a visit with Jeanette’s daughter Susan, her husband Jeff, and their family. We enjoy the ride to Pennsylvania as I usually regard Thanksgiving week as about the last time that one can make travel plans and not have to worry too much about snow or icy road conditions in the Finger Lakes.

We have much to be thankful for: the pleasantly warm November weather, all of our travels and family visits that we have enjoyed this year, and the ample rainfall which has given us a bountiful harvest. Hardly a day goes by that Jeanette doesn’t remark how fortunate we are to have chosen Canandaigua and the Finger Lakes as our retirement spot. The trees have all lost their leaves and only their naked branches stand out against the cold November sky. It sometimes brings sadness to see the beautiful foliage disappear but this is just a part of the Creator’s plans.

We hope that you too will take some time to think about all of the blessings that you have received this year. Many have not been so fortunate this year and are struggling to make ends meet in the Finger Lakes. It is our wish that some new beginnings and opportunities will open up for them. In the meantime, be thankful for what has been received and have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
