On Easter Sunday, Jeanette and I traveled to Skaneateles for our Easter dinner. We knew that there would be a long line at the Sherwood Inn, but we also knew that the wait would be worth the trip. Skaneateles Lake, one of the five largest Finger Lakes, shone in the warm spring sun. The crystal clear waters flowing out of the lake is something that has to be seen to be believed.
Our Easter dinner at the Sherwood Inn didn’t disappoint us. Our waitress was from Auburn and she told us that she was looking for a job as an actress. Her father runs the Auburn summer theater, and we said that we had gone there a few summers ago and saw the “Sound of Music”. She was in that play and played the part of one of the von Trapp children. Small world!
The Finger Lakes are now coming alive from their long winter’s rest. Our neighbors and friends are returning from Florida, happy to be back in the warm Finger Lakes sun. The Easter flowers are in bloom and the grass in just about ready to be cut for the first time. Soon the boaters will returning to the Finger Lakes. What a magnificent Easter feast!
