Art Festival in Punta Gorda, Florida

Art Festival, Punta Gorda, Florida

We visited the 4th Annual Peace River Art Festival at Laishley Park in Punta Gorda. One of the more spectacular art exhibits was the metal works of several full sized animals exhibited with the Peace River in the background. Our friends took us on a boat ride on the Peace River and we enjoyed seeing all of the homes along the man-made water ways in Punta Gorda. About five years ago on August 13, 2004, the Peace River wasn’t so peaceful as hurricane Charley hit the city of Punta Gorda with 140 mph winds, destroying a lot of trees and buildings in its path. The river and the man-made water ways were filled with debris from trees and buildings that had to be removed.

Punta Gorda Waterfront Living

Today, many of the destroyed buildings have been rebuilt and living along the Peace River and it’s many waterways has returned to normal.
