The Wildlife on Florida’s West Coast

Homosassa Springs State Park, Florida

At Homosassa Springs State Park, you can step back in time and observe animals and birds that are native to Florida in a natural setting. The trip into the park begins with a noiseless boat ride which takes you into the park. As the boat glides along the river, one can observe the lush Florida vegetation as well as some of the wild animals and birds which live along the river.

Flamingos at Homosassa State Park, Florida

Once in the wildlife sanctuary, we were able to see the manatee’s as they lazily swam in the 72 degree spring water, the flamingos, the blue herons, and many other kinds of Florida animals, fish, and birds. Perhaps no bird reminds me more of Florida than the flamingo.

While we humans were gawking at the animals, they were also looking at us too – just whoo, whooo, whoooo are all of these people!
